本刊前身為《國立台灣大學理學院心理學系研究報告》，於民國47年創刊。民國62年更名為《中華心理學刊》，由中國心理學會出版。民國67年起改為一年出版二期。民國92年起改為季刊，於每年三、六、九、十二月份出刊。民國93年中國心理學會更名為台灣心理學會。本刊以推動心理相關領域之高品質學術論文發表為已任，內容以中、英文實徵研究為主。在歷任主編和編輯委員之努力下，本刊已收錄於PsychINFO和TSSCI等資料庫。
